Teeny Tadpole

I am sorry, Sweetie. I have been procrastinating and feeling sick most of the time. I was meaning to write the first blog on either the 14th or 15th of April 2010. It was on the 14th of April 2010 (a Wednesday) that I got to know of your existence.

I had a cold and Daddy had got antibiotics but advised me to take a pregnancy test before I take the meds, just to be on the safe side. I didn’t take the meds and didn’t take his advice seriously either. But, as the day progressed the cold got worse, so I decided to buy a pregnancy test. I took the test before praying Maghrib. You can’t imagine my joy when I saw a positive on that test. Daddy wasn’t around, he was in Cairo (a 3 hour drive from Mansourah) attending a dinner. I called him and screamed on phone with joy, “We are having a baby”. Hahahahahahaha… He couldn’t respond with the same enthusiasm as people were around him. I, then, called up your Nani but couldn’t get through. She, your Nana, Khala and Mama were on their way to Saudi to perform an Umrah. I couldn’t get through to Khala or Nana. I, then, called Billi-Nani and gave her the news too. She was ecstatic. Then, I prayed Maghrib and tried Nani again. Nana answered and I was screaming on the phone, “I am pregnant. I am pregnant. I am pregnant. Tell mom”. I hung up in 30secs as I didn’t have much credit. It was a crazy evening from then on. I was so happy and the happiness made me light in the head, like I had a drink or two. Hahahahaha…

We went to the doctor on 19th April. The ultrasound only showed the gestational sac. Daddy started referring to you as Gestational Sac, I didn’t find that so amusing. Then, we read this article on a website that referred to the fetus as a Teeny Tadpole in the 5th week of pregnancy. So, we now call you a Teeny Tadpole.

Even though, you are a ‘Teeny’ Tadpole, you are the cause of a lot of changes. I am really nauseous and have strong cravings that drive me nuts. Just last night, I ate a whole medium pepperoni pizza from Pizza Hut, all by myself! I don’t know how I am going to look like when you, finally, read this. My normal weight is 48kgs. And, the current pregnancy weight is 52kgs because of all the eating. Today, I didn’t want to eat anything except a double cheeseburger with fries. I had that as I couldn’t eat anything else. Now, when daddy comes in for dinner we are having curried vegetable soup, as that’s what I am craving. I don’t know what you will like once you grow up but if you end up liking the above it maybe because I have stuffed my face with a lot of it.

Daddy has decided to get me meds to beat the nausea so I can eat healthier. I don’t mind doing whatever it takes to have you as a healthy baby. I mostly daydream of you cooing by my side and me swaddling you in my arms. I can’t wait to see you and be your mother. I maybe a terrorist-mommy but I love you now and will surely love you even more then.
